Abstract

This article aims to critically review the book Atomic Habits by James Clear and examine its relevance to character formation, self-discipline, and personal development among Indonesian students. The study adopts a qualitative descriptive approach using a literature review design. Data were collected through close reading and note-taking techniques on the primary text, supported by scholarly literature on behavioral psychology and character education. Data analysis involved data reduction, thematic categorization, and critical interpretation.

The findings indicate that Atomic Habits emphasizes incremental change through small, consistent habits, positioning identity as the core of sustainable behavioral transformation. The novelty of this study lies in contextualizing the book’s concepts within the Indonesian educational setting, particularly in fostering learning systems, leadership, and character resilience among students. The study highlights the book’s significant impact as a practical and reflective resource for character education, while also noting the need for cultural and spiritual enrichment to enhance its applicability. This review contributes to the discourse on evidence-based self-development and character education for youth and educators.
